I know each animal is different, and I’ll work with yours to give them the specific guidance they need. Whether you’re thinking about getting an animal, have a new pet, or already own a pet with behavioral problems, I am here to help.
About Me
AVO Dog Training and Obedience is owned and operated by Anna O'Sullivan. She travels all over the Seacoast and in the Tri-city area to help you and your dog build the best bond.Anna O’Sullivan has been professionally training dogs for the past 19 years. Her love for dogs got her started at Petco, where she was an obedience trainer for 8 years. Anna then became a kennel supervisor at a local doggy-daycare and boarding facility, before becoming the facility manager at a larger Doggy Daycare.Not only does Anna foster for a few local rescues, she is the proud owner of 9 amazing dogs! (YES 9!!) Anna is a Canine Good Citizen® Evaluator, assessing CGC® and AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy testing. She is also certified for Pet CPR & First Aid.

In Home Training
Proper dog training with a professional can help you live the perfect life with your dog. A dog that responds to you through training with positive motivation and reinforcement is more likely to make for a well balanced canine and best friend to you. Your dog should be able to respond to commands such as heel, sit, stay, come, and down at a minimum. Whether you are the owner of an adult dog or a young puppy, training can help you to have the best life possible with your canine companion.
Anna believes that she can help you and your dog better, in the environment the dog is used to. She travels with her dogs to build socialization skills, if needed.
Class Options
If your animal needs help with a specific physical or behavioral issue, Behavior Consulting with AVO Dog training and Obedience may be a great option for you. Sessions are done in the comfort of your own home, or at Anna's large fenced in yard, or at a local dog park or pet store for distraction, with personalized plans to fit your pet’s needs and your lifestyle.
To get the most out of this training, you will need to commit to 30 minutes practice each day in between lessons. Anna will demonstrate each command and show you how to properly train your dog, but essentially you are the trainer on this course. Topics that will be covered:
Housebreaking
Digging/Chewing/Jumping
Biting
Barking excessively
Counter surfing
Wait at doors and gates
Placement training
Polite greetings at the front door when guests arrive
Anna can also custom-tailor classes to focus on a particular issue that you may be experiencing with your dog.

One Hour Class -------------------$115.00
Package (5) One Hour Classes --$500.00
Boarding
Anna also has a few openings for her Board and Train Puppy program.
Board and Train programs may be scheduled for one or two weeks.

Anna will work on preventing behavior problems in the future by teaching the pup that the environment and strangers are AWESOME! Anna will also socialize the puppies with other puppies their own age on an ongoing basis. This helps them learn good social behaviors when playing with other dogs.

My first introduction to Anna was by accident. At the local pet store, I was looking for food for my new pug puppy (Mya). I was surprised to see a public "puppy social" happening right in the store. Even more to my surprise was to see that the Dog Trainer was such a young looking woman. I took the opportunity to observe her interactions with the puppies and their new pet parents. It was hard not to notice her dual role in providing an environment that was safe and comfortable for the puppies while answering many questions thrown from the new puppy parents. Anna handled this with tremendous confidence and ease. Anna is a remarkable and outgoing young woman who can make you feel instantly at ease when you first meet her. Anna's immediate interactions with dogs are always with a sense of fun, comfort and a gentle but firm demeanor. She IS a natural. Anna's gentle, supportive guidance to me as a new puppy owner has been invaluable and helpful beyond words. Anna you ROCK!

I've known and worked with Anna for nearly two years. When we met I had tons of animal care experience under my belt, but very little dog training education, and Anna has been a fantastic teacher. I have had my 8 month old rottie since the day he was born. Watching him grow, i knew he was going to be the alpha male. I desided at 8wks old i was going to need help training him. Thats when i went to see Anna. She trained me to train Khoas. We have passed basic obedience, akc star puppy , and areworking on canine goodcitizen and my goal is for my rottie (khaos) to become a therapy dog with anna's help she will make it possiable as for now khaos has become a very behaved , social and approachable dog. My young daughters begged for a puppy. Of course we gave in and bought them one. A beautiful golden retreiver named Bella. We went to Anna for basic puppy obedience training. However, her help went well beyond that. Immediately, Bella started showing aggressive tendencies; she bit my husband and daughter, growled when eating, would charge and knock over the kids, etc. We needed a professional to help get this under control. Anna took Bella to her home for a week for intensive training. When Bella returned she was a different dog. A dog I could finally trust around my young children. Anna is an amazing trainer, not to mention a compassionate animal lover and overall kind person. I would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone needing help training their dog!
